Rolling Reserve Calculator
Enter your own monthly processing volume and the reserve percentage you want to model. The calculator shows how much is withheld each month and, if you add a hold period, how much sits in reserve once the arrangement is running.
Model a reserve
We do not pre-fill a percentage: a reserve rate is agreed with a provider and varies by merchant profile, so any default here would look like a market standard when it is not.

Where each number comes from
- Your assumptions: monthly volume, reserve percentage, hold period and currency. All typed by you.
- Calculated output: the monthly withheld amount and the running reserve balance, derived only from those inputs.
- Provider terms: the percentage, hold length, release schedule and the conditions for reducing or removing a reserve. Those appear in a provider's own offer and are not modelled here.
monthly withheld = volume × (percent ÷ 100)
running balance = monthly withheld × hold months
Reading the result as a cash-flow question
A rolling reserve is not a fee. The money is yours and is normally released after the hold period, so the real question is how much working capital is tied up at any moment. That is the running balance figure above, and it stops growing once the arrangement reaches the hold length — later releases offset new withholdings if volume stays flat.
If your volume grows, the balance grows with it, so it is worth modelling both your current month and your target month. If your volume is seasonal, model your peak month rather than an average, because that is when the withholding bites hardest.
Actual reserve terms depend entirely on the provider and on your merchant profile — industry, history, chargeback performance, delivery times and how long the company has been trading. For the background, see the rolling reserve guide, and if a reserve has just been proposed to you, the rolling reserve requested page covers how those conversations usually go.
